Yanice Mak - Founder and CEO

Education is always a passion of Yanice. She founded Foster Worldwide, an award-winning EdTech company advocating for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 on Quality Education. The company's mission is to foster the next generation to become young global leaders by providing quality Career Education and Virtual Global internships. As a pioneer in providing Virtual Global Internships, Foster Worldwide has successfully collaborated with more than 170 companies from over 60 countries and cities to provide placement and training to 5000 youths worldwide to boost their employability. Partners include international corporates, universities, and NGOs - One Young World and United Nations Global Compact.

Yanice's life goal is to make this world a better place for the next generation. Since being a girl guide when she was six years old, she has been actively involved and taking various leadership roles in community services for more than 20 years. Given this long experience, she is appointed by the Hong Kong government to serve on five committees, advising on related policy and strategic planning. Currently, she is an advisory member of the Hong Kong government’s Community Investment and Inclusion Fund, an HKD$700 million fund for promoting the World Bank Social Capital Initiative in Hong Kong. Other public service affiliations include the Committee on Promotion of Organ Donation, Built Heritage Conservation Fund, Appeal Panel (Housing), Independent Police Complaints Council, United Nations Global Compact and more. Prior to joining The WEMP Foundation and CTFEG, she worked as the General Manager at the Rotary International District 3450, a 117-year-old global nonprofit organization.

Prior to her work in the social sector, she worked as a Research Associate at Harvard Business School in the United States. The research project she contributed to was formulating an effective policy for the mainland China government to encourage youth entrepreneurship. At the same time, she worked with a Boston-based venture capital firm focusing on medical technology sector investment. During her tenure, she had the opportunity to work with Dr. Walter Gilbert, a Nobel laureate and the co-founder of the publicly listed US company Biogen.

Yanice holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Master’s Degree in Innovation and Technology from Boston University with the Rotary Global Grant Scholarship.

Let's make a difference and build a better society together!
